Lucky 7

I'm flu-ish! My mind is racing out of boredom from sitting at home for the past 3 days, but my body feels like I just finished a marathon so this is a way I can sit, but still kind of put my brain to use...

here are the rules :

1. List 7 random things about yourself that people may not know.
2. Link the person who sent this to you, and leave a comment on their blog so that their readers can visit yours.
3. Post the rules on your blog.
4. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, linking their blog. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

1. I'm not good at remembering to accessorize so I tend to trade off between a few different pairs of earrings and necklaces. Now here's the creepy part...I've gotten to where I really prefer this because if anything were to happen to me where I needed to be identified (like in the morgue, I know it's gross!) by a family member or close friend they would recognize my jewelry for sure and know it was me.

2. The thought of going to the movies by myself is not a fun one. I finally conquered eating in a restaurant by myself so I've been trying to make myself go to a move alone at least once during the past couple of years, but it's not happening. Hopefully one of these days I can suck it up and go!

3. I absolutely love music, but I'm not very strong in my auditory skills so I'm always getting the lyrics wrong!

4. I'm really into gift giving. It's actually my "love language" so it pains me to give people gift cards. The thought and time put into the gift is what's so important to me, and gift cards just don't seem to show much in my opinion. I've finally gotten to where I'm okay with receiving them which has really helped out my family the last few years.

5. I had to parallel park with two other guys during drivers-ed. I didn't make it on my practice round so during the real test the guys and our teacher bet that I wouldn't be able to do it. Turned out I was the only one of us three to parallel park on my own on the first try - HA!

6. In 1st grade after the balloon launch at my school, mine was the only one found, and it was found by a woman in Paris...Texas. I won $10 but my mom took it because I blew all the money she gave me for a day at Six Flags the weekend before. Bummer!

7. I've become a reality tv junkie! I'm not talking about lame shows like Survivor or Big Brother, I'm talking much more respectable shows like The Hills, Rob & Big, LA Ink, and The Girls Next Door. There's just something about watching real peoples lives that fascinates me even though I'm aware that the first two I mentioned are definitely rigged in certain ways.

I'm supposed to tag people, but I'll just forgo that part since my body is ready for me to call it a night.

Happy (Belated) Birthday to me!

Yes, I did have a birthday, and my first two days as a 27 year old have been fantastic! One of the highlights so far was a little surprise left on my doorstep yesterday morning. I was trying to think of who might have sent it to my, and it turned out it came from 5 great women. I have incredible coworkers, and I'm not just saying that because one of them reads this blog. Does it get any better than a cookie bouquet?? I think not! Especially when said cookies are as cute as this:

Dancing with myself

Thanks to my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew, I now have a new way to waste hours of my time all while getting a little exercise in.

Oh yes, I will soon be a Dance Dance Revolution pro, and I'm determined to practice enough so that on my return trip to Dave & Buster's I can blow away all the competition on their machine. Until then, I figure this is going to be a great addition to my already fantastic slumber parties.

J Valentino

In honor of Valentine's Day, I decided to go three years back to a time when my nephew was much more willing to let me take photos of him and even let his mom put bright red lipstick on his cheek for his first Valentine Photo Shoot. Unfortunately it was also the last, but I'm thinking in a few more years he'll be more willing to sit still for a few minutes at a time.

Happy Valentine's Day!!! I hope you're surrounded with people you love today, or at least like alot!

It's in the details...

I always make sure I have enough time to hang out in the bridal room before the wedding. The "getting ready" moments are by far my favorite during the day, but right behind that is being able to capture all the details that are difficult to remember years down the line. Here's a few of the details from Drew and Amanda Moilan's wedding I had the privilege of shooting at the end of December.

Peer Pressure

Apparently the latest fad for photographers is to get a blog going with photos of their recent shoots and a few entries on their personal lives. While I prefer not to jump on any bandwagons, I'm jumping on this one to push my future career a little closer to being a reality and maybe, just maybe, to try to be a little more hip. Oh, and also to let my new coworker (and friend, I hope) have one more blog to add to her list.

I'm going to be straight-up...I'm horrible at keeping up with things like journals so I know this blog will not be updated like it should, and not just because I don't have any upcoming shoots scheduled for awhile. Hey, I've at least got one entry down. That's a start, right?!? For those of you faithful few willing to stick with me after months of nothingness, I want to go ahead and thank you now.
